Your shelf, on demand.
Post a bid on any Texas grocery store. A shopper who’s already in that aisle photographs your shelf — stock, tags, placement, voids — and you only pay for photos you accept. No subscription, no minimums, no sales call.
Built by a brand house, not a software company
ShelfShot was built by the team behind Small Potatoes, an Austin CPG brand house — and our own brands are its first customers, paying the same published rates as everyone else. We ship cookies and baking mixes into Texas grocery every week, and we could never get a reliable answer to the simplest question in retail: what does our shelf actually look like right now?Distributor reports don’t show it. Driving to forty stores doesn’t scale. So we built the thing we needed — and we’re opening it to every brand with the same blind spot.
Why this one sticks around
Shelf-check platforms have come and gone — most chased venture-scale software outcomes, fled upmarket to enterprise contracts, or shut down when the math didn’t work. We’re structurally different: we’re our own anchor customer. Our brands post bids on our own doors every month, so the platform doesn’t need to chase growth or an exit to stay alive. We’ll always have the need — the network just makes it better for everyone.
And every accepted photo makes the network smarter: shelf photos usually capture the neighbors too, so if your product shows up in a shot we already have, we can offer it to you the moment you sign up. Fresh eyes without anyone making a trip.
How it works
- 1
Sign up (2 minutes) and tell us which stores matter — one door, a metro, or all 1,700+ Texas grocery doors we cover.
- 2
Post bids at your price. Our data on what clears helps you pick a number that fills fast.
- 3
A shopper already in the store shoots your shelf: full section + close-up with the price tag readable.
- 4
Accept or decline every photo — declines need a reason and cost you nothing. Pay only for what you keep.
The founding deal
We launch shopper recruiting in the next 3–4 weeks, and a full board of bids on day one is what recruits great shoppers — so founding brands get the best of it:
15% platform fee instead of the standard 25% — that’s about our cost to run it — locked for two years.
Post as many bids as you’d like, starting now. Founding bids go up first.
Charter status when ShelfShot memberships launch — founding brands are grandfathered in.
A $6 photo costs a founding brand $6.90 all-in. The old-guard services charge ~$20 per store check, on a contract.
Straight answers
- Is this about watching competitors?
- No — it’s about your own shelf. Out-of-stocks cost the retailer the sale too; this fixes gaps stores also want fixed. Shelf shots only, no people, no back rooms.
- What does it cost to try?
- Nothing to sign up, nothing monthly. You fund bids you choose to post and pay only for photos you accept.
- When do bids go live?
- Shopper recruiting starts in the next 3–4 weeks. Founding-brand bids load onto the board first.
